NETFLIX and ad-based subscription model.
NETFLIX, a streaming video giant, suffered a major blowback this year with the subscription loss of around 200k subscribers. Furthermore, the company has forecasted a loss of approximately 2 million subscribers in the coming months of this year.
It has begun to strategize accordingly to the future conditions that may pose a revenue loss for the company. Users nowadays have lots of options to subscribe to different streaming services. HBO max, Disney+, Hulu, AppleTV+, etc., are some of the streaming services that have occupied a prominent place in the market and are going tough competition to NETFLIX. The company has planned to opt for an ad-based subscription model to expand its services.
Right now, NETFLIX doesn’t have an ad-based subscription option. The company has hinted at introducing this combined subscription and ad-based model in the next year at a low price. This subscription model would give it a stronghold in the streaming wars and recover the losses it suffered. Advertising various products, websites, pop media, companies, etc., would help generate more revenues and strengthen the subscriber base. So let’s see what more offers viewers may get sometime later.
