As part of a limited-time offer, SiriusXM subscribers will receive a gratis Discovery+ subscription as part of a package.

New and existing customers to SiriusXM's platinum VIP plan, which costs $34.99 per month, will receive a one-year membership to Discovery+ starting on Thursday.

A three-month subscription to Discovery+ will be given to new customers or existing subscribers who upgrade to SiriusXM's other subscription levels (platinum, music and entertainment, and streaming platinum).

The offer is only for SiriusXM subscribers; new and existing Discovery+ subscribers will not receive SiriusXM subscriptions as part of the deal.

"SiriusXM shares our goal of delighting viewers with outstanding stories, and we can continue to reach additional audiences through this new subscription offering," said Lisa Holme, Discovery's group svp of content and commercial strategy, in a statement.

At the end of the third quarter, SiriusXM had 34.3 million subscribers, with self-pay subscribers totaling slightly under 32 million.

Discovery said it had surpassed 20 million paying customers for its direct-to-consumer services, which includes Discovery+, in the same quarter. Discovery is undergoing regulatory evaluation for a planned merger with WarnerMedia.

The SiriusXM–Discovery subscription package follows other competitor bundling initiatives such as Spotify and Hulu, which originally released a Spotify and Hulu subscription bundle for students in 2017.
